Most buildings crack at some time during their service life. Monitoring the changes in horizontal and vertical movement across a crack can assist in diagnosing the cause of the crack and deciding on the appropriate remedial work.
Humboldt carries a complete line of extremely precise crack monitors and their accessories. These gauges are capable of monitoring even the smallest changes in a developing crack and are suitable for internal and external usage. Manufactured in vandal-resistant polycarbonate, they have a coefficient of linear thermal expansion of 7.0 x 10-5 cm/cm/°C for ambient temperatures between -22°F to 86°F (-30°C to 30°C).
These gauges conform to BS, EN, ISO and 9001:2000 standards.
Crack Monitors are available in the following configurations:
The Standard Crack Monitor: Used for years and provides for precise monitoring of cracks.
The Crack Monitor Plus: Improves on the standard model by adding pins to hold the two plates together while affixing it to the surface, making it easier to remove them once in place. Sporting measuring flats, this model allows accurate readings to be taken with calipers during monitoring.
Corner Crack Monitor: Uses a hinged mounting bracket to allow monitoring of cracks in corners with angles between 70° and 180°. Monitors both internal and external corners.
Displacement Crack Monitor: Monitors horizontal and displacement movement where there is a step across a crack due to displacement of “out-of-plane” movement.
