LA Abrasion Machine with Cabinet

The LA abrasion machine is used to measure the degradation of mineral aggregate of standard gradings resulting from a combination of actions, including abrasion or attrition, impact, and grinding in a rotating steel drum containing a specified number of steel spheres. The test is widely used as an indicator of the relative quality of various sources of aggregate having similar mineral compositions.

Humboldt’s design follows the ASTM-preferred design:

• Features a welded, structural-steel frame, fabricated .5"-thick (913mm) abrasion-resistant steel drum, a removable shelf bolted to the drum, and a balanced drum assembly.
• VFD allows for variable rotation from a rugged 1.5hp gear motor.
• Forward & reverse drum Jogging feature facilitates filling and dumping of the sample.
• Dynamic brake feature allows the drum to remain stationary during the loading and unloading of the sample into the drum.
• With an overall footprint of 47" x 41" x 40.5", the unit is highly space-efficient, making it ideal for laboratories with limited area.
• A precision-engineered soundproof chamber fits seamlessly over the drum, minimizing unwanted noise and reducing decibel levels during operation.

Unit Includes:

• Material catch pan
• 1 abrasive charge consisting of 12 hardened steel balls.

The electronic controller includes:

• Programmable Counter for easy operation and precise cycle management
• RUN and STOP Buttons for straightforward control
• Jogging Switch for manual positioning and adjustments
• Emergency Stop (E-Stop) for enhanced safety during operation
